Before I begin lets take this time and have a moment of silence for Lindsay Lohan......and hope and pray she will get herself together and soon.
With all the difficulties facing everyone today, with the economy, jobs being lost, people loosing their homes and finances suffering, it is hard to find the humor in life. You know you hear all the old sayings, "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade", "tomorrow is a new day", "everything is going to be alright" well those a great but they do not take the worry and fear away. While going through my own financial difficulties I was extremely worried and very scared as to what was going to happen with my daughter and I. Like many others I fell behind in paying my rent, after two years of faithful payment, and my landlord filed an eviction notice. So here I am with my daughter, who is a junior in high school, and no income coming in and not really knowing where to turn to get the help we needed. Yes, I did get all those sayings from different people and I do genuinely believe that things will get better, but it still did not answer that nagging little question of what my daughter and I where going to do about our current situation. Through all of this fear and worry I had to find a way to get my humor back and have a good laugh even though there was nothing to laugh about. Then as a wonderful surprise from a good friend they were able to pick my oldest daughter up from her school and bring her home for the Thanksgiving holiday. Needless to say I was a very happy woman and so was her younger sister. One thing she did for me and her sister was to make us laugh, I mean one of those really hard belly laughs that brings tears to your eyes, and not just once but her entire visit lifted our spirits because of the laughter she brought back to us. It was only then I could see the light that was at the end of the tunnel. With my best friend, and my daughters encouragement I reached out to family and friends and they where able to help us out in this time of difficulty. But I firmly believe if it had not been for the return of the joy of laughter I would have not have been so open to ask for the help we needed. You have to find the humor in what ever the situation you are in and always find a way to smile and that is where you will find the wealth of real friends and family brings your life. As corny as it is....Laughter is really the best medicine.
